Those Darn Nike Shirts I See All The Time
Yeah, I know you see them too. Everyone and they mama seem to wear them now. But i think mainly the sneakerheads rock them, which is cool, ‘cause the sneakerheads atleast look good in them…sometimes. Anyway, let me say this, I am in no way hating on Nike and the slogan shirts, moreso, just adding a bit of social commentary on them.
Now I think they are cool and lame. Cool because they kind of convey the message of how world class athletes (who train very hard and sacrifice a ton) go to great lengths to win. it’s good to have a winner’s attitude to life, I think America has bee n missing that attitude for some time. But I also believe it’s lame, because they not only become campy and corny but also can covey the wrong message. A Slogan such as “I will step on you to win”, I believe should not be on a Nike shirt. Or any company that’s geared towards athletes and sports enthusiasts. That’s a slogan  I personally would not wear. Not a slogan to wear proudly. I know winning is winning, we all know that, but to ‘step’ on someone to win is a punk way to winning.
Some of the slogans are really dope (i make it look easy is just swag), but some are just too corny and campy. Just like all of the big companies out there, I think Nike did well with a few slogans, but it looks like they started random shit on shirts just because they know it will sell.
It’s cool nifty idea though, no doubt, and I give Nike props for doing it, just please Nike, stop doing the corny slogans and just keep doing the cool and dope ones, you got a good thing going….that is all.
